Important Tips For Writing a Book (Both Fiction & Non-Fiction)

All of you newbie writers come to this blog for advice when you are writing your book. This blog post is going to share some of my favorite tips for writing a book. The unique thing about this post though? This post is going to be filled with tips that work for both fiction and non-fiction writing! Here we go!

Tips For Writing a Book That Work For Both Genres

The first tip I have that works for both genres is to get early feedback. When you are writing a book, you’re going to make mistakes. It doesn’t matter if this is your first book, or your tenth. Getting feedback early from a writing coach or an editor is a good way to save you from having to rewrite the whole thing once you’ve completed it. It is better to get feedback as you work rather than just once when you are finished.

The second tip is to create an outline of your novel before you start writing it. Now, this doesn’t have to be a set-in-stone outline, but having a rough outline of your novel will lead to better flow and organization once it is written. This tip can also assist with writer’s block! Having an outline for fiction can help keep your storyline straight while an outline for non-fiction can help you keep all your facts in order.

Finally, the third tip that works well for both fiction and non-fiction writing is to write what you would love to read. If you are not passionate about the book you are writing, whether fiction or non-fiction, no one else is going to be passionate about it either. If you focus on and write about what you love, your book will be good no matter what. Write what you want to read and other people will flock to it as well.

Being a new writer can be intimidating but hopefully these tips for writing a book, fiction or non-fiction, can help you in some way. If you need any more help, feel free to contact me at Write One Publications! I look forward to hearing about your newest book idea!
